Johnson and Wales (R.I.) edged the Albertus Magnus men's lacrosse team 13-12 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Wednesday night in Rhode Island.

The loss moves the Falcons to 3-9 on the year and 2-7 in GNAC play, while the win improves the Wildcats' overall record to 3-12 and 1-8 in league action.

After the Wildcats took an early 1-0 lead 48 seconds into the contest, Albertus scored three-straight unanswered goals led by a game-tying score by Ryan Brown (Monroe, Conn.).  It was his first career goal as he finished on a pass from Justin Bennet (Fairfield, Conn.).

Mike Choiniere (Bethany, Conn.) was involved in the next two goals for Albertus as he scored at the 11:33 mark of the first quarter to give Albertus a 2-1 lead before assisting on a goal by Brennan Moore (Meriden, Conn.) 25 seconds later.  Both teams scored two more goals in the quarter as Albertus took a 5-3 lead after the opening frame.

In the second quarter, JWU outscored the Falcons' 3-1 as Moore scored his second goal of the game with a man-up unassisted goal to tie the game at six heading into the half-time break.

The Wildcats took an 8-6 lead in the third quarter before Moore tallied his third goal of the game off of a pass from Choiniere.  His score cut the JWU lead to 8-7 with 8:22 left in the quarter.  After JWU took a 9-7 lead, back-to-back Albertus goals by Choiniere and Bennet tied the game at nine before the Falcons' took a 10-9 lead on an unassisted Choiniere goal.

With seven seconds left on the clock in the third quarter, JWU's Tyler Thompson scored his third goal of the game to tie the contest at 10.

Less than a minute into the fourth quarter, JWU took an 11-10 lead on Thompson's fourth goal of the game. Brown scored his fourth goal of the season at the 10:29 mark of the fourth quarter to tie the game at all.

Thompson scored once again with 4:01 left in the contest before his teammate TJ Consiglio scored the eventual game-winning goal with 3:48 on the clock as JWU took a 13-11 lead.  Bennet scored an unassisted goal with 1:44 left in regulation but the Falcons' rally was cut short as JWU took the 13-12 victory.

Choiniere and Moore finished the contest with three goals each, while Bennet tallied two goals and two assists to go along with five shots and six groundballs.  Brandon Scicchitano (Norwalk, Conn.) registered 14 saves in 60 minutes of work.

Jack Pettine improved to 3-5 in goal for the Wildcats, while he tallied 14 saves.  Thompson finished with five goals and one assist.

The Falcons won 21 face offs compared to JWU's six, while JWU outshot the Falcons 52-41 on the night.

Albertus returns to action on Saturday when the Falcons finish the regular season in Standish, Maine in a 1:30 p.m. contest against the Monks of Saint Joseph's College.
