The Albertus Magnus men's lacrosse team fell to Lasell College 18-6 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play on Saturday afternoon.  With the loss, the Falcons fall to 0-7 on the year and 0-3 in GNAC action, while Lasell improves to 5-3 overall and 2-1 in league play.

Lasell's offensive effort was spread around the field as the Lasers' Jason Donovan, Robbie Palazzo, Anthony Saitta and Joe Cunning each tallied two goals apiece. Ten other players for the Lasers scored one goal.

Albertus was led by Mike Choiniere (Bethany, Conn.) with four goals on eight shots. He also picked up four ground balls. Choinere now has a team-best 19 goals on the year.  Justin Bennet (Fairfield, Conn.) added one goal for Albertus, while Austin Kozek (West Haven, Conn.) also found the back of the cage for his second career goal. Sophomore Dalton Sargent (Augusta, Maine) recorded two assists for the Falcons.

After the score was tied at one, after goals from Aaron LaPorte for Lasell and Choiniere for Albertus, the Lasers tallied four unanswered goals before Bennet's man-up opportunity and score.  Choiniere added with his own man-up goal to cut the Lasers' lead to 5-3.  But Lasell scored four goals to finish out the half to go into the break with a 9-3 lead.

Choiniere scored two goals – one unassisted at the 3:14 mark and the second with 1:19 to play – to close the contest for the visitors, but the Lasers' defense contained the run and claimed its second GNAC victory of the season, 18-6, on a snowy Saturday afternoon.

Lasell junior goalkeeper David Walen earned his third win of the season (3-3) with his three saves through the opening 38:45 of the matchup. Classmate Chris Thomas-Ikier came on in relief over the next 15:11 and sophomore Jorge Salazar (Waltham, Mass.) closed the contest, over the final 6:04, in the cage for the Lasers in his third appearance of the spring.

Albertus goalkeeper Jack Kerner (Merrick, N.Y.) stopped the ball 24 times for the Falcons' in a complete game effort.

Lasell held a 49-28 advantage in ground balls, won 15-of-27 face-offs, went 17-for-23 on clearing attempts and 4-for-7 on the man-up advantage, while the Falcons were 15-for-26 in transition this afternoon.

Albertus Magnus heads to Mitchell College for a non-conference contest at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1 for the Falcons' next contest.
