Falcons Close out 2015 with 23-9 Win at Lyndon St.

The Albertus Magnus men's lacrosse team finished the 2015 season with a dominating 23-9 victory over Lyndon State in non-conference action on Thursday afternoon. 

Greg Buck (Berlin, Conn.) led the Falcons with seven goals and four assists as Albertus improved to 3-11 on the year.  Dalton Sargent (Augusta, Maine) added four goals and one assist for the Falcons, while Mike Choiniere (Bethany, Conn.) scored five goals and dished out five assists.  Paul Mirmina (Milford, Conn.) added two goals in the win.

Albertus jumped out to an early 10-0 lead after one quarter of play led by Buck and Sargent with three goals apiece in the opening frame.  Adam Earl (Hamden, Conn.) opened the scoring at the 12:51 mark to give Albertus the lead before Buck followed with two goals in less than five minutes to push the Falcons' advantage out to 3-0.

Sargent scored back-to-back goals in a two-minute span to give Albertus a 5-0 lead before Choiniere added two more goals late in the quarter.

Colin Young put Lyndon State on the scoreboard with the first goal of the second quarter.

Albertus held a 17-2 lead at the halftime break and outshot the host team 37-14 in the first half.

Albertus tallied the first six goals out of the break, including two by Choiniere, to take a 23-2 lead. Lyndon State responded with seven-straight unanswered goals in the final 21 minutes of play.

Lyndon State fell to 3-8 on the year with the loss.

Jack Kerner (Merrick, N.Y.) made 16 saves for the Falcons in the win as the Falcons limited Lyndon State to just 25 shots on goal. The Hornets' Ryan Leavitt made 11 saves in the loss.
