Nashua, N.H. – The Albertus Magnus College men's lacrosse team fell to Daniel Webster, 11-2, on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.

Rookie Tre Mason (Kelowna, B.C.) erupted for five goals and David Downie (Merrimack, N.H.) added three goals and an assist as the host Eagles avenged a setback to the Falcons two years ago in New Haven.

With the loss, Albertus Magnus drops to 1-2 on the year, whiel Daniel Webster improved to 4-2 overall with the nine-goal triumph.

Anthony Cotoni (Groton, Mass.) tacked on a pair of scores and assisted on three and rookie net minder Harley Hagan (Red Lion, Penn.) picked up his first collegiate victory with a 14-save performance in which the Eagles held the Falcons scoreless in the second half.

Junior midfielder Justin Bennet (Fairfield, Conn.) and sopohmore attackmen Brennan Moore (Meriden, Conn.) scored for Albertus with Bennet pulling in a game-high 11 ground balls and winning eight face offs. In net, sophomore Jack Kerner (Merrick, N.Y.) made 12 saves in 55-plus minutes in goal for the visitors.

The Eagles never trailed and ultimately used its depth to wear down a game Falcons club that kept things close into the fourth quarter as DWC led 2-1 after one quarter, 4-2 at the half and 6-2 after 45 minutes before pulling away with five fourth period scores.

DWC finished with advantages in shots on goals (23-16), ground balls (50-43), and clears (24-22) while AMC won 10 of 17 face-offs.

Mason and Downie would put DWC up 2-0 by the midpoint of the first quarter and Moore halved the lead with 42 seconds to go on the man advantage before the first quarter expired. Mason added his second of the day early in the second and Bennet followed for Albertus with 4:25 to go before the break for a 3-2 game.

Downie would make it 4-2 1:41 before the break and Mason potted goals three and four in the third quarter with 2:29 and 1:01 remaining, respectively.

Jay McGrath (Chelmsford, Mass.) gave DWC some breathing room making it 5-2 with 8:15 to go in the fourth and Cotoni followed with two straight to open it up. Mason and Downie closed out the scoring in the final three and half minutes.

Albertus Magnus returns to action on Saturday, March 26, with a home clash against Emerson at 1:00 pm from Celentano Field.
