Men's Lacrosse Weekly Preview: Emerson

Last Week: The Albertus Magnus College men's lacrosse team fell to Daniel Webster, 11-2, in non-conference play on the road. With the loss, Albertus Magnus drops to 1-2 on the year. Junior midfielder Justin Bennet and sophomore attackmen Brennan Moore scored for Albertus with Bennet pulling in a game-high 11 ground balls and winning eight face offs. In net, sophomore Jack Kerner made 12 saves in 55-plus minutes in goal for the visitors. Albertus Magnus remained close throughout the first half before the Eagles pulled away over the final 30 minutes, outscoring the Falcons, 7-0.

This Week: Albertus Magnus hosts Emerson in non-conference action over the weekend. The Falcons enter the tilt looking to get back to .500.

Series History: Emerson leads the all-time series, 1-0, after taking the season opener at home versus Albertus Magnus last spring.

Last Year Versus the Lions: Emerson scored an 11-5 win at home against AMC in March of 2015. In the contest, the Lions forced 32 Falcon turnovers and outshot Albertus Magnus, 44-32. The Falcons had nine extra-man opportunities in the game, but only were able to convert two of them into goals. Greg Buck paced Albertus Magnus with a goal and an assist.

Scouting Emerson: The Lions enter the week in the midst of a nine-game losing streak dating back to last season. The last Emerson triumph came on April 8 of last year against Wheelock at home. This year, the squad is 0-4 and has been outscored, 66-20. Offensively, Andrew Romano and Cameron Radenburg are tied for the team lead with five goals, while Nicholas Kitsos (4 goals + 2 assists) and Diego Rosende (2 goals +4 assists) have contributed six points apiece. Emerson has won just 36-of-97 face-off attempts this season. Between the pipes, freshman Bailey Kennedy has made 31 saves in over 150 minutes of action.

Albertus Notes:
- Bennet scored a goal and grabbed a game-high 11 ground balls for the Falcons in an 11-2 setback against Daniel Webster last week. Bennet won 8-of-15 face-off attemtps for Albertus Magnus and fired four shots on goal. His second-quarter strike against the Eagles pulled the Falcons to within one at 3-2. This year, he is 46-of-67 on face-offs and has a team-high 12 points (10 goals + 2 assists).
- Buck and Moore has both accounted for nine points this spring. Buck has six markers and three helpers, while Moore has chipped in five tallies and four assists.
-Defensively, Adam Earl has a team-best 10 caused turnover to go along with 14 ground balls, while Bennet has five caused turnovers and a team-leading 41 ground balls. On the backline, Dom Moscato and Jon Gravius have four caused turnovers apiece.
- In goal, Kerner has a 10.62 goals-against average to go along with a .592 save percentage and 42 saves on the year. In limited action, freshman John Brunetti has turned aside three shots.
