Standish, Maine – The Albertus Magnus College men's lacrosse team fell on the road to Saint Joseph's (Maine), 15-13, on Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at Westerlea Way Field.

With their third straight GNAC setback, the Falcons move to 3-5 on the year and 0-3 in league play, while the Monks bounced back from a midweek loss to improve to 5-5 overall and 2-1 in conference tilts.

Sophomore attack Brennan Moore (Meriden, Conn.) led the charge for the guests with a season-best five goals and two assists, while sophomore midfielder Paul Mirmina (Milford, Conn.) had his strongest game of the year with a four-goal effort. Junior attack Greg Buck (Berlin, Conn.) also chipped in two goals and two assists for AMC. On the defensive side, senior defender Adam Earl (Hamden, Conn.) had four caused turnovers, while junior midfielder Justin Bennet (Fairfield, Conn.) added two caused turnovers and a game-high nine ground balls.

Saint Joseph's broke up a 7-up halftime score with 7-2 scoring run spanning 21 minutes, as sophomore Luigi Grimaldi (Portland, Maine) scored three goals in a matter of two minutes and 30 seconds and sophomore Cam Boucher (Lewiston, Maine) hit pay dirt to lift the Monks to a 15-9 advantage with 8:53 left in the fourth quarter.

The Falcons made an impressive offensive push in the closing eight minutes as the visitors, aided by a two-minute locked in penalty on the Monks, netted four unanswered goals to cut their deficit down to two (15-13) with the help of three goals from sophomore Brennan Moore (Meriden, Conn.). SJC sophomore goalie Connor Trainor (Franklin, Mass.) came up with a pair of big saves in the closing minutes to preserve the victory.

In the cage, AMC sophomore Jack Kerner (Merrick, N.Y.) turned aside 10 shots in a losing effort. On the opposite end, Connor Trainor made nine saves en route to his fifth win of the year.

Both squads won 15 face-offs apiece with Bennet going 12-for-21 for the visitors. The Monks held a slight, 46-41, edge in shots and were 3-of-5 on extra-man opportunities. The Falcons were successful on 18-of-23 clear attempts and went just 3-of11 with the extra man.

Albertus Magnus returns to action on Wednesday, April 13, with a home conference clash versus Anna Maria that is slated to begin at 7:00 pm. Last spring, the Falcons topped the AMCATS, 25-3, on the road.
