Newton, Mass. - Despite two goals from sophomore Christopher Magnifico (Glastonbury, Conn.) and freshman Jayme Toro (East Haven, Conn.), the Albertus Magnus College men's lacrosse team came up short, 22-7, against Mount Ida Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Mount Ida took control early as the hosts opened regulation with a three-goal lead before back-to-back goals from Toro and James May (Branford, Conn.) brought the score to within one, 3-2, with 7:05 remaining in the first. The Mustangs managed to push their lead to five, 7-2, until a goal from Brennan Moore (Meriden, Conn.) cut the score to within four, 7-3, but the Falcons would head into the second down five, 8-3.

Over the next two quarters, Mount Ida went on a 10-1 scoring run, extending its lead to 18-4 entering the final 15 minutes of play. Albertus Magnus was unable to secure the comeback in the fourth as the Mustangs outscored the Falcons by a 4-3 edge to earn their first win of the season.

• Along with his two goals, Magnifico added an assist to finish out with three points and a caused turnover.
