New Haven, Conn. – Sophomore Christopher Magnifico (Glastonbury, Conn.) of the Albertus Magnus College men's lacrosse team netted a team-best two goals and two assists for four points as the Falcons lost to Rivier University, 14-6, on Saturday afternoon at Celentano Field in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) showdown.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Junior James May (Branford, Conn.) opened the game for scoring an unassisted goal at the 10:51 mark to give Albertus Magnus the early advantage, 1-0. Ten minutes later, Rivier would tie the game at 1-1 after Kyle Newman found the back of the net against the Falcons' keeper Jack Kerner (Merrick, N.Y.).

Rivier's offense picked up in the second quarter as the Raiders outscored the Falcons, 4-1, to take a 5-2 lead at the half. The Falcons' lone goal of the frame came from Magnifico at the 6:44 mark to cut the visitors' lead to one, 3-2.

The Raiders continued to pick up speed, scoring the first goal of the third just three minutes in, pushing their lead to four, 6-2. However, less than a minute later, Magnifico would score his second of the game off a nice feed from Jordan Garguilo (West Haven, Conn.), 6-3, but Rivier would go on a 5-1 scoring run to close out the third with an seven-goal advantage, 11-4.

The Falcons Jayme Toro (East Haven, Conn.) and Tyler Sicoli (Shoreham, N.Y.) netted a goal each over the final 15 minutes of play, but the Raiders were able to secure the road win, 14-6.
