Men's Lacrosse Topped at Home Against USJ

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus College men's lacrosse team lost a home match-up to Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) foe the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) by a final score of 18-3 Wednesday evening at Celentano Field. Jayme Toro (East Haven, Conn.) scored two of the Falcons' three goals, while Dane Walsh (Bethany, Conn.) made a season-high 26 saves.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Blue Jays controlled the action in the first half, scoring 11 unanswered goals heading into the halftime break.

Albertus ended the visitor's run with the first goal of the second half. With a man up, Toro put the Falcons on the scoreboard by sniping the top-right corner on a pass from Cody Walczak (Killingworth, Conn.) in front of the crease to make it an 11-1 game at the 11:20 mark.

Saint Joseph netted five more goals before the Falcons found the back of the net at the 6:22 mark of the fourth quarter. Toro struck up again after winning a faceoff, barreling down the field after scooping up the ground ball to score to the top shelf.

Shane Kelly (Madison, Conn.) netted Albertus' final goal of the game with 5:26 remaining. After a faceoff, Zaheim Wilkins (Mastic Beach, N.Y.) fed Kelly a pass in front of the crease, where he made a quick move before scoring low on the goalie.

USJ scored one more time before the end of the contest to pick up the GNAC victory.
