HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Golden Eagles scored twice early as Michael Carere and Nick Morales tallied a goal.
  • Albanese put the Falcons on the board at the 9:44 mark, spinning off a defender and taking a shot past St. Joseph's goaltender, Connor Van Dusen to make it a 2-1 game. With the Falcons a man up with 3:36 left in the first, Kirwin scored his first goal of the game after taking a pass from Kelly, bouncing off a defender and ripping a shot to make it a 2-2 game.
  • After Carere scored his second of the game, Kelly and Tremblay each got in on the scoring in the final 2:02. Kelly took a shot from 25 yards out, and with 41 seconds left in the quarter, Albertus took its first lead of the game as Tremblay took a pass from Kirwin - who was behind the net - and put Albertus up, 4-3.
  • The Golden Eagles kept the Falcons scoreless in the second, and took the lead back, including a third from Carere to put them up, 5-4. St. Joe's scored the first two in the third period to take its biggest lead of the game at 7-4 with 5:01 left.
  • Kirwin scored his second of the game to help bring Albertus back at the 4:24 mark as Tremblay was knocked down trying to make a pass. The ball found Kirwin who ripped an underhand shot into the net. Keenan's goal came as Albertus was a man down as he was knocked down while taking a shot, making it a 7-6 game.
  • Albertus trailed 8-6 heading into the fourth as Carere scored his fourth of the game for the Golden Eagles. Just 74 seconds into the final period, Tremblay scored his second of the game and Keenan would tie it at the 10:29 mark receiving a pass from Kelly and taking a shot with a defender draped on him to make it 8-8.
  • The Golden Falcons scored twice within 14 seconds as Nik Allen and Carere made it a 10-8 game, but just 23 seconds after Carere's goal, Kelly scored his second of the game while getting checked to the ground as it was a 10-9 game at the 8:14 mark.
  • Five minutes later Albanese scored his second of the game as he streaked down the length of the field and tied the game all by himself, making it 10-10.
  • With the game looking destined for overtime, Kirwin got a step on his defender and ran in for a point blank shot for the heroic goal, giving Albertus the win.
