THE BASICS
FINAL: Dean 19 | Albertus Magnus 6
RECORDS: Albertus Magnus (4-5, 1-2 GNAC) | Dean (8-1, 2-1 GNAC)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Through the first eight minutes, Dean netted four goals before Tremblay put the Falcons on the board off the side pass from Keenan for a 4-1 game. Alec Kovalsky (Orange, Conn.) sent the ball from the defensive zone to Keenan in the midfield before the junior tossed Tremblay the ball for the tally from inside the attack area.
- The visitors posted two more goals in the first period.
- Dean opened the second with three goals, followed by an unassisted tally from Strecker with 4:10 remaining before the break. The Bulldogs attempted to apply pressure on Strecker, who managed to bulldoze defenders around the cage and mustered a goal as he went to the ground from a waved off penalty.
- Two minutes later, Coleman notched the hosts' third goal of the game off the assist from Strecker for a 10-3 game. Zayre Bradley (Norwalk, Conn.) brought the ball into play after an Albertus timeout and quickly passed it to Strecker behind the right side of the net as the junior passed the ball low to Coleman, who then shoveled it into the netting between the goalkeeper's legs.
- Dean rounded out the half with two goals in the final 52 seconds for the 12-3 edge.
- In the third period, the Bulldogs connected for five unanswered goals but Strecker halted the scoring stretch with his second unassisted tally on the day. After maintaining possession on a shot off the post by Bradley, Strecker reset the offense from in front of the spectators before he sprinted around the net for an over-the-shoulder goal with 6:56 left in the quarter.
- Less than two minutes into the final period, Brikes received the ball from Strecker inches in front of the restraining line for the deep goal through six Bulldogs for the 17-5 game.
- Tremblay recorded the final goal for the Falcons off the helper from Brikes with 6:32 remaining in regulation. After a scrum in the midfield for the face off win, Coleman came away with the groundball and passed it to Brikes in the scoring zone. As Brikes battled for the ball with a pair of Bulldogs, he attempted a shot that bounced off the goalkeeper's net and landed straight into Tremblay's pocket for the dart into the right corner of the cage.
- Dean sandwiched Tremblay's goal with tallies of their own for the final 19-6 score.
