The Albertus Magnus College men's soccer team was handed their first loss of the season on Saturday afternoon against host Lasell College 2-0.

The Falcons were stopped repeatedly by the excellent play of Lasell goal keeper Miguel Colmenares (Caracas, Venezuela) who made six saves in the contest.  Colmenares would turn away three Albertus scoring chances in the first 15 minutes to play including a blast off of the leg of freshman defender Alex Perez (Hamden, Conn.) that was punched over the cross bar for the save.

Taylor Witherbee (East Bridgewater, Mass.) would get Lasell on the board in the 23rd minute when he finished a through ball past a diving freshman keeper Griffin Volta (Orange, Conn.) from Caique Reginaldo (Quincy, Mass.) to give Lasell the 1-0 lead.  Lasell would take the 1-0 lead into halftime.

Albertus would come out strong in the second half with three quality scoring chances coming in the 57th minute.  Colmenares handled all three chances including a point blank shot from sophomore Alex Zapata (Hamden, Conn.) and subsequent rebound shot from senior forward Lindsley Barrett (Shelton, Conn.).  A Lasell foul just outside of the box gave Barrett an opportunity for a free kick that just sailed over the cross bar.

Reginaldo would find the back of the net for the Lasers in the 68th minute to give Lasell the 2-0 lead after getting behind the Falcon defense.  Albertus would continue to pressure Lasell but their four shots could not find the back of the net.  Volta made three saves for the Falcons in the loss.

With their first loss of the season, Albertus drops to 4-1-2, 0-1-1 GNAC on the season while Lasell improves to 3-3, 2-0 GNAC.  The Falcons return to action on Monday at 4:00 p.m. when they host non-conference opponent Becker College at Celentano Field.
