HOW IT HAPPENED

The Falcons were knocking on the door early and often in the first half and eventually got on the board with a goal from Cortez in the 20th minute. Gabriel Pagila (Gabriel Pagila) sent a long ball to Cortez who was one on one with a defender. After Cortez switched the ball to his right foot to rid the defender, he took a low bouncing shot past Regis goalkeeper, Ethan Donahue to make it a 1-0 game.

Regis tied the match 12 minutes later on a free kick just outside the box from Joey Davila.

The teams went into the half tied, but Cortez got the Falcons back on top in the 59th minute. Roger Baldwin (New Haven, Conn.) took a shot in the box that was deflected by Donahue. The ball ricocheted off the post and Cortez put it back in for his fifth goal of the season.

David Lucero (East Haven, Conn.) stopped both shots he faced after the Falcons took the lead to preserve the win.
