NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Lorenzo Lauria (New Haven, Conn.) scored the game-winning goal to break a scoreless tie with just 93 seconds left as the Albertus Magnus College men's soccer team won a thrilling 1-0 match over Rivier University in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match at Celentano Field.

It was the third goal of the season for Lauria, who has scored a goal in three of the four matches this season for Albertus.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• For the first 35 minutes of the first half, the two teams battled for possession with limited chances at shots on net. However, over the final ten minutes of the first half, Albertus put four shots on goal, two coming from Roger Baldwin (New Haven, Conn.) and one each by Lauria and Julius McNeill (East Hartford, Conn.). Rivier had a shot on net during that span as David Lucero (East Haven, Conn.) was able to turn it away.
• Shots on goal were harder to come by in the second half, as each team had one quality opportunity. In the 56th minute, Rivier's Mitchell Ward was all alone in the box with Joao Oliveira (Middletown, Conn.), but Oliverira stayed with Mitchell blocking the shot attempt. 
• Albertus almost got on the board in the 69th minute on a header from Gabriel Paglia (Amity, Conn.) off of a corner kick, but the shot was stopped by Rivier goalkeeper, Logan Clough.
• On a throw-in in the 89th minute, Lauria flicked the ball over both his and the defender's head inside the box, made a touch with his chest and fired in a shot past Clough to give Albertus the lead, and eventually the win.
