Women's Basketball Weekly Preview: GNAC Quarterfinals (Emmanuel)

Last Week: The Albertus Magnus College women's basketball team went 0-2 last week, falling at home to Coast Guard in non-conference play and Emmanuel in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action. Albertus Magnus enters the post-season with a 14-11 overall record and a 6-5 mark in GNAC games. In a President's Day setback against the Bears, the biggest differences in the contest were three-point shooting and foul shooting. Coast Guard hit five shots from deep and the hosts connected on just 2-of-18 attempts from beyond the arc. Over the weekend, Emmanuel pulled away in the fourth quarter to top the Falcons. AMC is in the midst of a four-game losing streak.

This Week: Albertus Magnus enters the GNAC Tournament as the No. 6 seed and will face No. 3 seed Emmanuel on the road on Tuesday evening.

Earlier this Season Against Emmanuel: The Saints scored a 70-60 victory in New Haven to spoil the Albertus Magnus Senior Day on Saturday. Emmanuel pulled away in the fourth quarter, outscoring the hosts, 23-15, to earn the victory. The Saints shot 43 percent from the field and forced 24 AMC turnovers in the triumph.

Series History: Emmanuel leads the all-time series, 20-2, and is currently riding a 19-game winning streak against Albertus Magnus. The Saints are undefeated all-time at home versus the Falcons and are looking to end AMC's season for the second year in a row in the GNAC Quarterfinals.

Scouting Emmanuel: The Saints are second in the GNAC in scoring behind the Falcons, pouring in over 71 points per game. Emmanuel shoots a conference-leading 41 percent from the field, while also leading the league in assists per game (17.1) and steals per contest (13.4). Two players average in double figures, led by Sarah Higgins with over 14 points per game. Forward Lena Negri also averages over 11 points and seven boards a game. Higgins was dominant in the win at AMC on Saturday, netting 19 points. She also added 13 rebounds, five assists, seven steals and two blocks to fill out the stat sheet. The Saints enter the post-season on a five-game winning streak.

- The team is making its 15 appearance in the GNAC Tournament and looking to advance past the Quarterfinals for the first time since the 2012-13 season. Albertus Magnus is 1-3 all-time against Emmanuel in GNAC Tournament history. The team is 10-14 all-time in the GNAC Tournament.
- In her final home regular season game as a Falcon, point guard Olivia Sutherland poured in 16 points to go along with five rebounds and four assists.
- Albertus Magnus leads the GNAC in scoring, netting over 72 points per game. The Falcons are also second in the league in rebounding (46.7 boards per game) and three-point shooting (31.5 % from beyond the arc).
- Junior guard Liz Falcigno is second in the conference in free-throw shooting, hitting over 81 percent (99-of-121) from the charity stripe. She is also sixth in the league in three-point shooting, knocking down just under 37 percent of her treys. She is averaging just shy of 17 points a game and hitting more than two three-pointers a contest.
- Sophomore forward Olivia Bolden leads the team in scoring (17. 4 points per game) and rebounding (9.4 boards per contest). She has topped the 20-point plateau eight times this winter and has recorded a team-leading 11 double-doubles in 2015-16.
