Scott, Murray-Leach Each Score 1000th Career Point In Takedown Of Rosemont

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - It was a historic afternoon for the Albertus Magnus College women's basketball team as Caitlyn Scott (White Plains, N.Y.) and Jakara Murray-Leach (Norwalk, Conn.) both scored their 1,000th career point in a 100-42 rout over Rosemont on the campus of Wesleyan University on Sunday afternoon.

The pair became the 16th and 17th players in program history to reach the 1,000-point milestone and the first time since 2019 since a new member was added to the club.

Murray-Leach finished with 25 points and nine rebounds while Scott finished with 19.

 HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Falcons blitzed Rosemont from the opening tip, scoring the first 20 points of the game, as Scott scored seven points, Murray-Leach and Murray-Leach, five.
  • Rosemont did not score a point until 2:10 remaining in the first quarter.
  • Hannah Barrientos (East Hampton, Conn.)  finished the first quarter with six points off the bench, hitting all three of her field goal attempts as the Falcons took a 25-7 lead after the first ten minutes.
  • Albertus extended its lead to 44-20 at the half as Diamond White (Hamden, Conn.) scored six points and Scott four more.
  • Albertus held Rosemont to 22.5% (9-40) shooting in the first half.
  • The Falcons scored the first 12 points of the second half, the final two coming from Scott to make it a 56-20 game at the 7:18 mark.
  • Scott's monumental moment came at the 3:16 mark in the third, hitting two free-throws to hit 1,000 in her career. She finished the quarter with eight points.
  • Murray-Leach scored 13 in the third quarter, hitting five of her nine shots.
  • Murray-Leach scored seven points in the fourth, including her 1,000th point. She achieved the feat in just 54 games.
  • Barrientos had six in the fourth as Rosemont never threatened.

NOTEWORTHY

  • It was the first time the Falcons have scored at least 100 points since a 106-104 3OT win over the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) last season. They have scored 100 points in a game at least once over the last three seasons.
  • Scott has scored in double digits in 28 of her last 29 games.
  • It was the second straight game Murray-Leach has scored 25 points.
  • The 14 points for Barrientos were a career-high.
  • The 58-point margin of victory was the largest since an 85-26 (59 points) victory over Dean last season.
