Raposo, Barrett Lead Women's Lacrosse to Season-Opening Win at Purchase

PURCHASE, N.Y. - Behind hat tricks from Katherine Raposo (Warwick, R.I.) and Alexandra Barrett (Northford, Conn.), the Albertus Magnus College women's lacrosse team opened the 2022 campaign with a dominant 11-4 victory over the Panthers of Purchase College.

Raposo led the Falcons' offense with a five-goal performance, while Barrett sent four balls through the pipes. Keegan Riccio (West Haven, Conn.) also had an outstanding day, tying Raposo with five points on one goal and four assists. Head Coach Danielle Pannone kicked off her tenure with the team with her first career victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Falcons came out on top in a tightly-contested first quarter by a 3-2 margin. AMC scored the first, third, and fifth goals, starting with a strike from Amanda McGeehan (Milford, Conn.) at the 12:53 mark. Raposo and Barrett began their stellar days in the first, with both finding the back of the net.

Albertus started to pull away in the second quarter, scoring all three goals in the frame. Raposo netted the first two tallies before Riccio sent the Falcons into the halftime break ahead, 6-2.

AMC widened its advantage to start the second half, scoring both goals in the third period and the first goal of the fourth to take a 9-2 lead. A Barrett tally led to back-to-back Raposo strikes.

Two Panther goals bookended a pair of Falcon's tallies in the fourth to set the final score at 11-4. Barrett netted AMC's last two goals to give her four on the day. Riccio assisted Barrett's fourth tally to finish the game with one goal and four assists.

In the cage, freshman Chloe Oliver (Milford, Conn.) made three saves to start her collegiate career with a victory.
