Women's Lacrosse Edged on the Road at Rivier, 15-11

NASHUA, N.H. – The Albertus Magnus College women's lacrosse team dropped a hard-fought Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) bout to the Raider of Rivier University in road action on Saturday afternoon.

Katherine Raposo (Warwick, R.I.) continued her torrid start the season with a team-leading eight points on five goals and three assists. Alexandra Barrett (Northford, Conn.) was next on the team with four goals. Between the pipes, Chloe Oliver (Milford, Conn.) made nine saves in 60 minutes.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Falcons burst out of the gates to begin today's game, going ahead 5-1 through the first 8:14. Keegan Riccio (West Haven, Conn.) netted the game's opening goal before Raposo tallied her first of the day to make it a 2-0 Albertus lead.

After a Rivier goal, AMC answered with the next three tallies. Barrett netted the following two scores for the Falcons on passes from Raposo. Finally, Raposo recorded her own goal to make it a 5-1 game at the 6:46 mark. 

Rivier retaliated with the game's next five goals to take its first lead, 6-5, with 1:40 left in the first quarter. 

Raposo sent the two teams into the second quarter tied at 6-6 with her third score of the first period with 37 seconds left on the clock. 

Unfortunately for the Falcons, the Raiders pulled ahead in the second quarter, scoring all four goals in the frame to take a 10-6 advantage into the halftime break.

The Falcons answered with the first two scores of the third quarter to cut the margin to two goals, 10-8. Raposo netted the opening goal of the quarter 14 seconds in before Barrett scored at the 13:46 mark.

Lachance tallied two more strikes for the Raiders before Albertus retaliated with two goals to make it a 12-10 game heading to the fourth quarter. Raposo and Barrett again combined to score the two goals for AMC.

With a two-goal cushion to start the fourth, the Raiders sealed a 15-11 GNAC win by taking the quarter by a 3-1 margin. Riccio netted the tally for the Falcons in the fourth, her second of the day.
