HOW IT HAPPENED
- The AMCATS scored twice in the first six minutes of action until Schlechtweg narrowed the gap for the visitors to make it a 2-1 game at 8:33 in the opening quarter. Following a card by the home team and a successful clear by the Falcons, G. Montano passed the ball to Schlechtweg, who capitalized on the short-handed AMCATS, for the first tally of the night.
- After scoring her first goal of the game with two seconds left in the first quarter, Olivia Stump scored her second goal of the game 71 seconds into the second quarter to put Anna Maria ahead, 4-1.
- O'Brien then cut the deficit to within two. Signor forced a turnover and drew the foul, but a wide free position shot was picked up by O'Brien who cradled the ball around the net for an unassisted goal at 11:02 in the second quarter.
- Anna Maria failed a clear for a turnover to allow Albertus to regain control of the ball for the Falcons' second player-up goal at 4:34 as O'Brien connected from the attack zone off an assist by Schlechtweg to make it a 5-3 game. Ivy Ballou and Stump each picked up another goal apiece in the final 1:16 of the second quarter to take a 7-3 lead at halftime.
- The Falcons trailed 8-3 heading into the fourth, but they scored three straight goals to cut their deficit to 8-6 with 10:43 remaining. Retasket ignited the scoring stretch for the Falcons at 13:40 thanks to a turnover caused by G. Montano. Signor scored two straight less than a minute apart, with the first off a free position shot to make it an 8-5 contest. After the first tally by the junior, Anna Maria called for a timeout but Retasket won the draw control for the quick goal by Signor off the pass by Schlechtweg.
