Lady Falcons Earn 2-2 Tie Against Lasell College

 

New Haven, CT-  The Albertus Magnus College women's soccer team continue to play well nearly earning an overtime win with just 2:10 left to play.  Junior forward Samantha Gigliotti (Wilton, CT) smashed the crossbar in the 2nd overtime of the game falling just short of the goal.  Lasell College started  the scoring in the 33rd minute of the first half off the foot of sophomore forward Jessica Taylor (Standish, ME) from freshman Alexis Vumbaco (Meriden, CT).  The Lady Falcons responded three minutes later as junior Co-Captain Jenna Riccio (North Branford, CT) scored on a corner kick off the leg of sophomore Sarah Boudreau (Pascoag, RI).  With the score tied at 1 in the second half Taylor scored her second goal of the afternoon beating the Lady Falcons' keeper to take a 2-1 lead.  With 18 minutes remaining in the half, Boudreau drilled a free kick into the back of the net from 25 yards out to force the game into overtime.  Neither team could find the back of the net in the two overtimes resulting in a 2-2 tie.  The Lady Falcons improve to 6-1-1, 3-1-1 GNAC while Lasell College improves to 3-2-2, 2-0-2 GNAC.  Albertus travels to Boston, MA to face Emerson College on Tuesday with a 5:30pm kick-off.
