Lady Falcons Earn 1-1 Tie

Somerville, MA - On Saturday afternoon  junior forward Sam Gigliotti (Wilton, CT) connected for the game-tying goal off of a corner kick from senior mid-fielder Leanna Weisslender (New Haven, CT) late in the second-half to earn the Lady Falcons a 1-1 tie against GNAC opponent Suffolk University.  Suffolk sophomore Leslie Hayden (Ross, CA) scored the game's first goal in the 34th minute as she kicked in a loose ball off a rebound in front of the Falcon's net to give the Rams an early lead.  The Lady Falcons outshot the Rams in the game 31-11, but could not capitalize on their scoring opportunities. Freshman forward Danielle Figueroa (Bridgeport, CT) had two of the best chances for Albertus Magnus. The first coming with seven minutes left in regulation as her shot struck off the cross bar after being set up by Gigliotti for what could have been the first Albertus goal of the game. Figueroa had another golden opportunity late in overtime but her shot sailed wide left of the Rams goal.  Weisslender also missed a chance to give the Falcons the win, two minutes later as she was left alone in front of the net, but her shot also went wide of the goal. Albertus outshot the Rams 6-1 in the two overtime periods.  Junior keeper Christina Oddo (East Haven, CT) made 7 saves in net for Albertus Magnus while junior keeper Emily Joyce (Easton, MA) continued her strong play in net, making nine saves.  Albertus improves to 9-5-3, 5-4-3 on the season and will play Emmanuel College in the first round of the GNAC playoffs on Sunday, November 1st with a 1:00pm kick-off.
