Falcons Have Eight Game Winning Streak Snapped 2-0 by St. Joe's (CT)

West Hartford, CT - The Albertus Magnus College Women's Soccer team had their program record eight game winning streak snapped by Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opponent St. Joseph's College (CT) 2-0 on a rainy Tuesday afternoon.  The Falcons tied their opponents in shots at 13 each but failed to find the back of the net for just the third time this season.

St. Joseph's (CT) scored in the 18th minute of play when sophomore defender Kristin Whitman (South Windsor, CT/South Windsor) scored off a deflection to give them the 1-0 lead.  The Falcons out shot their opponents 5-3 in the first half but trailed 1-0 going into halftime.

Albertus continued to put pressure on the St. Joseph's (CT) junior goalkeeper Holly Mirabella (Seymour, CT/Seymour) in the second half with five additional shots on goal but could not find the back of the net.  Freshman forward Tiana Saraceno (Plainville, CT/Plainville) finished a through ball from senior forward Eva Peart (Bloomfield, CT/Bloomfield) in the 82nd minute to seal the 2-0 victory.

Freshman goalkeeper Christina Dineson (Milford, CT/Milford) had six saves for the Falcons while Mirabella stopped 10 shots to secure the shutout.

Albertus saw their program record eight game win streak snapped as they drop to 8-3, 5-1 GNAC while St. Joseph's (CT) improves to 8-1, 4-1 GNAC this season.  The Falcons return to action on Saturday at 1:00 pm as they travel to Providence, RI to take on GNAC opponent Johnson and Wales University.
