Figueroa's Two Goals Lead Falcons Over Johnson & Wales 4-0

East Providence, RI - The Albertus Magnus College Women's Soccer team cruised past Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opponent Johnson & Wales University 4-0 on Saturday afternoon.  The Falcons received two goals and an assist from sophomore forward Danielle Figueroa (Bridgeport, CT/Notre Dame Fairfield) in the victory.

Albertus Magnus struck first in the 21st minute when freshman midfielder Amanda Roke (Cheshire,CT/Chesire) took a feed to the right of the net from Figueroa and placed it in the lower left corner. Figueroa netted her own goal in the 27th minute after Krystal Quinones (Bridgeport, CT/Notre Dame Fairfield) sent a long pass down field and Figueroa lifted a shot over the keeper to put the Falcons up 2-0. Albertus Magnus took the 2-0 lead heading into halftime.

Figueroa placed her 2nd goal of the match in the upper left-hand corner of the net on a feed from Roke with 19 minutes left in the match. Sophomore defender Sam Farley (Shelton, CT/Shelton) took a shot off a foul from 45 yards out and put it in the top of the net, capping the scoring for the afternoon to propel the Falcons to the 4-0 victory.

Freshman Kara Collins (North Arlington, NJ/North Arlington) had 4 saves in net for the Wildcats while Christina Dineson (Milford, CT/Foran) had 4 saves in the shutout for Albertus.

Albertus Magnus improves to 9-3, 6-1 GNAC while Johnson & Wales drops to 4-7, 1-3 GNAC.  The Falcons return to action Saturday October 9 when they host GNAC opponent Suffolk University at 1:00 pm.
