Newton, MA - The Albertus Magnus College Women's Soccer team scored in the 71st minute to earn a 2-2 tie against host and Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opponent Lasell College on Saturday afternoon. Two overtime periods remained scoreless finishing the contest where it had ended in regulation with a 2-2 tie.
Albertus took a 1-0 lead into halftime when senior
forward Samantha
Gigliotti (Wolcott, CT/Sacred Heart) finished a corner kick
from freshman midfielder Meghan
Loughman (Trumbull, CT/Trumbull) in the 28th minute.
Lasell junior midfielder Jordynn Frollo (Uxbridge,
MA/Uxbridge) tied the score 1-1 in the 51st minute beating
freshman Falcon goalkeeper Christina
Dineson (Milford, CT/Foran).
Freshman forward Sam Peck (Woodbury, CT/Nonnewaug) pulled the
home team ahead 2-1 in the 68th minute finishing her shot from
six yards in front of the net.
The Falcons would respond just three minutes later when sophomore
forward Danielle
Figueroa (Bridgeport, CT/Fairfield Prep) chipped in a cross
from junior defender Sarah
Boudreau (Pascoag, RI/Burrilville) to
produce 2-2 score.
Dineson finished the contest with 12 saves. Lasell junior goalkeeper Elizabeth Stickley (Mashpee, MA/Mashpee) registered three saves in the match.
Albertus is 9-6-1, 6-3-1 GNAC while Lasell is 8-3-2, 5-2-2 GNAC. The Falcons host GNAC opponent Simmons College at 4:00 pm at Celentano Field.
