Meghan Loughman (Trumbull, Conn.) scored the game-winning goal in the 35th minute to lead the Albertus Magnus women's soccer team to it's first-ever GNAC postseason victory as the Falcons shutout Simmons College 2-0.

Albertus is now 1-5 in GNAC postseason action dating back to the team's inaugural season in 2005.

For Loughman, it was her third goal of the year and her first game winner as the Falcons' improved to 12-6 overall in 2011.

Loughman connected on a cross into the box from Sam Corso (Derby, Conn.) and beat the diving keeper to give the Falcons' a 1-0 lead.

Amanda Roke (Cheshire, Conn.) added an insurance goal in the 47th minute to put the Falcons' up 2-0. Senior Sarah Boudreau (Pascoag, R.I.) sent a free kick into the box where Meaghan Skidmore (Naugatuck, Conn.) redirected the ball to Roke, who scored her team-leading seventh goal of the year.

On the afternoon, the Falcons' outshot Simmons 18-5, including a 12-2 clip in the first half of play.

Christina Dineson (Milford, Conn.) faced one shot and made the save as she played all 90 minutes for the Falcons. Ashley Wheeler took the loss for Simmons as she allowed both goals and made six stops in net.

With the Albertus' win and a Johnson & Wales loss, the No.3 Falcons will now host No. 7 Suffolk on Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 2:30 p.m. in the GNAC Tournament Semifinals.
