The Albertus Magnus women's soccer team battled New England College to a 1-1 draw (2ot) in non-conference action on Sunday afternoon.

With the tie, the Falcons are now 3-1-1 on the year, while the Pilgrims move to 1-3-1 overall.

Albertus struck first as Shelley Mirmina (Milford, Conn.) sent a corner kick into the box to find Shannon Skidmore (Terryville, Conn.), who tallied her first goal of the season.  Skidmore's header gave the Falcons a 1-0 lead heading into the halftime break.

New England College's Alyssa Krause scored the game-tying goal in the 77th minute of play which forced the contest into overtime.

In the overtime periods, the Falcons had two opportunities to score the game-winning goal but fell short.  In the 93rd minute, Loughman drilled a shot which was scooped up by Pilgrim goalkeeper Tricia Sardagnola.  Thirty seconds later, Albertus keeper Maria Case (West Haven, Conn.) recorded her own save as Jessica Barnum had a scoring opportunity for the Pilgrims.

In the 99th minute of play, Mirmina's shot attempt missed wide of the target to force the game into its second overtime period.

Albertus outshot the Pilgrims 16-13 on the afternoon, while Case registered six saves.  Sardagnola finished with five.

Albertus Magnus will open Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play on Saturday, Sept. 14 when the Falcons travel to Northfield, Vt. to take on Norwich University. That contest is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m.
