2013 GNAC Women's Soccer Bracket

The Albertus Magnus women's soccer team will be making its fifth-straight appearance in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 2 when the second-seeded Falcons play host to seventh-seeded Simmons College at 1:00 p.m. in New Haven.

The Falcons finished the 2013 regular season with a 12-4-2 overall record and a 9-2 showing in GNAC action.  The nine conference wins are a program record, while the 12 overall wins are a regular-season program record as well.

The second place finish in the regular season by the Falcons is the program's highest finish in program history.  The 2013 season marks the fourth-straight year in which the Falcons have finished in the top-five of the GNAC standings.

The Sharks enter the postseason after finishing 5-6 in GNAC regular-season play.  As on Sunday, Oct. 27, Simmons is 8-9 on the year but have a non-conference Tuesday night match-up with Springfield College that will conclude regular-season action for the Sharks.

The Falcons are 1-6 all-time in GNAC Tournament play as 2013 will mark the third-straight year playing Simmons in the quarterfinal round.  Albertus is 1-2 all-time against Simmons in postseason action.

In 2012, the Falcons and Sharks faced one another in the GNAC Tournament Quarterfinals with the Sharks coming out on top 2-0.  In 2011, the two teams battled in New Haven in the quarterfinal round and the Falcons blanked the Sharks 2-0 in that contest.  In the Falcon's first-ever GNAC Tournament appearance, Simmons downed Albertus 11-0 in 2005.

The winner of Saturday's match will face either Suffolk or Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Tuesday, Nov. 5.

Lasell College took home the regular-season GNAC title and will be the No. 1 seed in the tournament. The Lasers will host Johnson & Wales, the eighth seed, while Saint Joseph's College of Maine rounds out the top-three teams as the third seed.
