Senior Shannon Skidmore (Terryville, Conn.) of the Albertus Magnus women's soccer team has been named the 2013 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Defensive Player of the Year, as voted on by the league's head coaches.

With the major GNAC honor, Skidmore is the first-ever Albertus Magnus women's soccer player to earn the Defensive Player of the Year accolade, while she was also named to the 2013 GNAC All-Conference First Team for the first time in her career.  She is the fourth all-time Falcon women's soccer player to earn a spot on the coveted first-team.

Skidmore, who helped lead the Falcons to an impressive regular-season run in 2013, scored two goals on the year for the Falcons for four points.  She registered 11 shots in the regular-season with four being on goal.

Skidmore is a part of a Falcons' defense that allowed just 13 goals during the regular-season in over 1,600 minutes played.  The defense also held opponents to 0.67 goals per game and an average of 12 shots per game.

The Albertus senior was also named the 2012-13 GNAC Sportswoman of the Year before the fall season.
