The Albertus Magnus College women's soccer team had their four-game winning streak snapped by visiting Trinity College 3-0 on Tuesday afternoon.
The first half featured strong defense on both sides as Trinity held just a 2-0 shot advantage while each team had two corner kicks. Trinity senior forward Karyn Barrett (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) opened the scoring in the 55th minute on a nice cross from sophomore forward Andi Nicholson (Pomfret, Conn.) for the 1-0 lead. Junior forward Abigail Siebert (Melrose, Mass.) scored on a similar play one minute later when junior forward Kelsey Thomas (Stonington, Conn.) sent a nice cross into the box as Siebert scored a header goal.
The Falcons saw a nice scoring chance thwarted by junior keeper Monica DiFiori (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) in the 63rd minute when junior forward Acacia Nelson (Bridgeport, Conn.) saw her point blank shot saved in dramatic fashion. Junior keeper Maria Case (West Haven, Conn.) had four saves for the Falcons.
Trinity would tack on a goal in 89th minute as Thomas sent a through ball to sophomore forward Taylor Kennedy (Hartford, Conn.) for the 3-0 lead.
Albertus drops to 5-4, 2-0 GNAC while Trinity College improves to 4-2-1, 0-2-1 NESCAC. The Falcons return to action on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. when they travel to Standish, Maine to take on GNAC opponent St. Joseph's College.
