HOW IT HAPPENED
The Blazers got on the board early in the game on a tally by Elaina Villar. At the eight-minute mark, the junior sent a corner kick into the box that flew into the top-left corner of the goal. The Falcons came back with a pair of shots but were stymied on both attempts by Elms' keeper Hannah DelGuidice. The teams continued to trade blows for the remainder of the half, with Albertus leading in shots at halftime by a 6-3 margin.

With the Falcons down 1-0 going into the second half, the hosts didn't waste any time, firing off two shots that were both intercepted by DelGuidice. However, Kikosicki finally broke through for the home squad in the 48th minute, burying a rebounded Elms save past the keeper to knot the score at 1-1. Riccio earned the assists on the goal by taking the initial attempt that led to the score.

The teams traded shots for the next 11 minutes before the Blazers struck again, sneaking one past Michelle Mecca (Greenwood Lake, N.Y.) in goal for the second score and giving the visitors a 2-1 lead. Kayla Pasquel earned an assist on the score, as she found Morgan Foucault in the box, where she turned and lifted the ball into the left side of the net.

With the clock winding down, the teams began to get chippy, with the visitors getting called for three fouls and the hosts getting flagged for two fouls and a yellow card. Over the final half-hour, the Falcons desperately tried to come from behind, ripping off four shots, but none of them were able to slip past DelGuidice, and the game ended in a 2-1 Falcons' setback.
