Women's Soccer Stumbles in Road Match against Saint Joseph's (Me.), 1-0

STANDISH, Maine - A 33rd-minute goal was the difference in Albertus Magnus women's soccer's 1-0 defeat to the Saint Joseph's College of Maine in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Saturday afternoon in Standish, Maine.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Both teams had some chances to begin today's contest, as the combatants combined for 11 shots over the first 31:24. Unfortunately for the Falcons, the Monks took advantage first, scoring in the 33rd minute to take a 1-0 lead. Alicen Burnham was credited with an unassisted tally.

The final 12-plus minutes did not feature nearly as much action, as Saint Joseph's took the only shot in that period. The Monks' defense stepped up to maintain their 1-0 advantage going into halftime.

Albertus continued to fight over the first 30 minutes of the second half, with Haley Andrews (Prospect, Conn.), Ashley Shaw (Milford, Conn.), and Sara Pearson (East Hartford, Conn.) all tallying shots. However, the Monks were up for the challenge and kept their clean sheet intact.

The Falcons had two more chances over the final four minutes. Katherine Raposo (Warwick, R.I.) took a shot that was saved at the last second by a defender, and Keegan Riccio (West Haven, Conn.) had an attempt halted by the Saint Joseph's keeper, Adia Grogan. With those two stops, the Monks held on to improve to a perfect 5-0 in confernce.
