Women's Soccer Soars to 5-0 Win over Fisher

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus College women's soccer team was clicking on all cylinders Wednesday evening, as the Falcons handed Fisher College a 5-0 loss at Celentano Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Erina Ismaili (Middlebury, Conn.) put the home squad on the board first in the 29th minute, firing a free kick from 40 yards out that sailed into the top of the net.
• The Falcons took a 2-0 advantage in the 49th minute, as Haley Andrews (Prospect, Conn.) fed Ejalam Bravo (New Britain, Conn.) a pass into the box that she dribbled by the opposing keeper to score in the bottom right corner.
• Albertus capitalized on a breakaway attempt to go ahead 3-0, as Victoria Jainchill (Simsbury, Conn.) stormed to the goal after a Tyler Stocking (Middletown, Conn.) pass down the left sideline.
Bridget Rosikiewicz (Naugatuck, Conn.) built the home team's advantage to 4-0 with a successful penalty kick in the 66th minute.
• The Falcons' final goal of the game came after a turnover by the opposing keeper, as Ashley Shaw (Milford, Conn.) stole the ball and fired a rocket from the right side of the box that found daylight over the goalie.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
• The blue-and-white out-shot the visitors by a 34-15 margin.
• AMC tallied five corner kicks to Fishers' four.
• Fisher was whistled for 15 fouls, while Albertus was called for 10.
• Fisher made 13 saves to Albertus' seven stops.

NOTEWORTHY
• Bravo scored her first collegiate goal to start the second half, giving the Falcons a 2-0 lead.
• Jainchill scored the first goal of her career to give Albertus a 3-0 lead.
• Stocking picked up the first assist of her collegiate career.
• Shaw was able to net her first goal of the season to extend Albertus' lead to 5-0.
• The Falcons' 5-0 margin of victory was their highest since their 7-2 win over Rivier University last season.
• Tonight's win is the 133rd for head coach Nicholas Wajnowski, which propelled him past Falcon great George Bedocs to become the winningest soccer coach in Albertus history.

The women's soccer team continues its early season home stretch with its first Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) game of the season on Saturday, Sept. 10th, as AMC will square off against the Pride of Regis (Mass.) College. Kick-off is set for 1 p.m.
