Women’s Soccer Battles St. Joseph (CT) to a Scoreless Tie

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - A defensive battle was on full display tonight as the Albertus Magnus College women's soccer team took on the University of Saint Joseph (CT) Blue Jays under the lights at Celentano Field in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action. After 90 minutes of play, the Falcons and Blue Jays fought their way to a 0-0 draw.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Albertus held the majority of possession throughout the first 45 minutes of play, outshooting the Blue Jays, 8-6, and held the advantage in corner kicks 4-0.
  • The blue-and-white went on the offensive attack, rallying off six shots, with the first legit scoring threat coming from Tyler Stocking (Middletown, Conn.) in the 33rd minute.
  • Following the Falcon attack, USJ started to gain control offensively and closed out the half with two unsuccessful shot attempts, keeping the game scoreless at halftime.
  • Albertus came out of the huddle looking to score as the blue-and-white posted the 5-4 edge in shots over the visiting Blue Jays.
  • During that run, Haley Andrews (Prospect, Conn.) and Jordan Kikosicki (East Haven, Conn.) each recorded a shot on goal that was turned aside by the visiting keeper.
  • For the remainder of the game, Albertus' defensive line held tough, with Amy Stevens (Lincoln, R.I.) stopping two shots on goal.
  • Keegan Riccio (West Haven, Conn.) recorded the Falcons' two shots over the remaining 22 minutes.

  • Nine different Falcons registered at least one shot attempt.
  • Ejalam Bravo (New Britain, Conn.) and Ricco led the Falcons' attack with three shots each.
  • Erina Ismaili (Middlebury, Conn.) and Andrews tallied two apiece.
