NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus College women's soccer team got a goal from Erina Ismaili (Middlebury, Conn.) in the second half, and it was all the Falcons needed in a 1-0 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) win over Dean College on Saturday afternoon at Celentano Field.
THE BASICS
FINAL: Albertus Magnus 1 | Dean 0
RECORDS: Albertus Magnus (5-4-3, 4-3-2 GNAC) | Dean (4-6-2, 3-5-2 GNAC)
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Falcons looked in control during the first half, taking five shots on goal, but not getting anything past Dean goalkeeper Haley Gaunt early on as Ismaili took four shots at net during the first 45 minutes.
The Albertus defense allowed just one shot on goal in the first half, not allowing any quality looks to the Bulldogs throughout.
After getting close multiple times throughout the game, Ismaili finally broke through in the 59th minute. Ismaili took a corner kick that went through to the other side of the field. A cross coming back the other way did the same thing. On the third attempt, Tyler Stocking centered a pass and Ismaili headed it in for her seventh goal of the season.
Amy Stevens (Lincoln, R.I.) didn't let any of the five shots in the second half get through, leading to her third shutout of the season.
