HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Chargers got on the board in the 16th minute on a header from Lauren McKee after a pass was deflected in the air inside the box.
  • Just eight minutes into the second half the Falcons got on the board to tie the game as Tyler Stocking (Middletown, Conn.) sent a ball into the box that was initially knocked down by a Colby-Sawyer defender, but Vescera was right there to take the ball back and took a shot with her right foot past Rivier goalkeeper, Gabriela Calidonio to make it a 1-1 game.
  • The match remained tied until the 81st minute as Ellie Smith's shot from just outside of the box went just out of the grasp of goalkeeper Amy Stevens (Lincoln, R.I.) to take the 2-1 lead.
