NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Sophia Vescera (Prospect, Conn.) and Erina Ismaili (Middlebury, Conn.) each scored a pair of goals as the Albertus Magnus College women's soccer team defeated SUNY Purchase, 4-1 in a non-conference game at Celentano Field on Monday evening.

Vescera scored the first two goals of the game as the Falcons put up three goals in the first half. 

Ismaili moved to 7th all-time in points in program history and now has 58 in her career.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Albertus was on the offensive attack from the opening whistle and peppered Purchase goalkeeper, Carolyn Hough early on with shots until Vescera got the Falcons on the board in the seventh minute as a deflection in the box rolled to the foot of Vescera who took a clean shot at the net to make it a 1-0 game.
• In the 15th minute, Vescera took a through ball from Ava Murphy (West Haven, Conn.), bringing the ball down towards the goal line on the right side and took a shot from a tough angle into the top left corner of the net to give Albertus the 2-0 lead.
• Ismaili scored her first goal of the game in the 22nd minute as a shot from Ejalam Bravo (New Britain, Conn.) deflected off of a defender to Ismaili. Ismaili then took a schot that hit the bottom of the crossbar and into the net to give the Falcons the 3-0 advantage, a lead they would hold into halftime.
• Purchase got on the board just 34 seconds into the second half on a goal from Emily Giron.
• Ismaili scored her second goal of the game on a penalty kick after a handball in the box from Purchase in the 56th minute.

NOTEWORTHY

• It was the first win for Albertus over Purchase all-time. The two teams tied in their first ever meeting last season.
• It was the fourth multi-goal game for Ismaili, and first this season. She now leads the team with five goals on the saeson.
• Vescera tied her career-high with her fourth goal of the season. It was also her second multi-goal game of her career.
