HOW IT HAPPENED

  • In the 18th minute, Addie Lamond (Bethlehem, Conn.) went to the far sideline for a Falcons' throw in and launched it at the feet of Bravo, who passed the ball to Erina Ismaili (Middlebury, Conn.) after a couple dribbles and battling a USJ defender. Ismaili sent it back to Lamond who quickly passed it to Tyler Stocking (Middletown, Conn.) along the sideline in front of the spectators before Stocking delivered a long cross a few steps in front of Sophie Vescera (), who took two dribbles before connecting with the twine over the reaching hands of Madison Corcoran in the net to put the home team up, 1-0, at 18:12 in the first half.
  • The Blue Jays only took one shot in the opening 45 minutes, as Jenna Zup attempted a shot on target with less than two minutes remaining in the half but Amy Stevens (Lincoln, R.I.)was there to nab the save.
  • Albertus quickly drew a corner kick taken by Ismaili followed by a close header by Lamond that was denied by a Blue Jay defender in the 49th minute. USJ controlled the ball following the Falcons' shot attempt, leading to the Blue Jays second shot on goal off the foot of Zoe Zappone for Stevens second save on the night.
  • In a four minute span, Bravo attempted back-to-back shots while Lamond tried to connect for one, but all three were knocked away by Corcoran.
  • A cross by Zappone in front of the USJ Bench towards Jelly Frigo a few steps in front of the net, who high kicked the ball into the back of the net for the equalizer at the 70th minute mark.
  • Julia Tsakonas (West Haven, Conn.) stepped in front of a Blue Jay defender to gain control of the ball following a USJ goal kick before passing it behind her to Julianne Yuris (Middletown, Conn.) as the first-year immediately to Bravo just left of the center of goal. Bravo out ran the defender towards the ball and also drew the goalkeeper out of the box for the eventual game-winner in the 84th minute.
