Women's Soccer Falls In Final Minutes To Wentworth

BOSTON, Mass. - The Albertus Magnus College women's soccer team lost a close 2-1 game to the Wentworth Institute of Technology on Sunday road contest.

Addie Lamond (Bethlehem, Conn.) scored the lone goal for the Falcons on an assist from Grace D'Amico (Southbury, Conn.).

Wentworth was held scoreless for the first 80 minutes, but scored goals in the 81st and 89th minute to snatch the win.

Amy Stevens (Lincoln, R.I.) had seven saves in the game for Albertus.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Falcons got on the board in the 10th minute as a free kick from the right side of the net from D'Amico found its way through the traffic in the box to Lamond who put the ball in the back of the net from just in front of the goal, making it a 1-0.
  • Albertus was able to keep Wentworth off the board for the entire first half, until the Leopards broke through in the 81st minute as Lily Carlson took a pass floated into the box by Katie McTigue and scored to tie the game.
  • Carlson scored again in the 89th minute after getting a rebound after a sprawling save from Stevens on the previous shot and putting the ball across the goalline to give Wentworth the lead for good.
