Women's Soccer Preserves Unbeaten Streak With Draw Against Emmanuel (Mass.)

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus College women's soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to seven games as the Falcons battled to a 2-2 draw against Emmanuel College (Mass.) in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match on Wednesday evening at Celentano Field.

Taya Bagley (Foster, R.I.) and Grace D'Amico (Southbury, Conn.) each had a goal for the Falcons.

Amy Stevens (Lincoln, R.I.) had seven saves in net for the Falcons.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Emmanuel struck early with multiple chances on net early in the match. At the seven minute mark, Sarah Dullaghan was able to put the Saints up 1-0 with a pass from Libby Tennant. 
  • The Saints did not let up as just eight minutes later, Dullaghan struck again, this time with a pass from Carla Andreu Panighi to take a quick 2-0 lead. 
  • Despite a two goal deficit, the Falcons did not back down. Bagley was able to find the back of the net just a minute later with a pass from Ejalam Bravo (New Britain, Conn.). This cut the lead to 2-1 going into the second half. 
  • The Falcons came out firing in the second half. In the 56th minute, D'Amico ripped a shot from beyond the 18-yard box to equalize the match at 2-2. 
  • Both teams traded possession and scoring opportunities throughout the remainder of the second half, but the game ended in a 2-2 draw.

  • The unbeaten streak is the longest since the 2012 team acheived the same feat.
