HOLYOKE, Mass. — The Albertus Magnus College baseball team fell in back-to-back games against the Elms College Blazers on Saturday after dropping the first game, 9-4, and 13-1 in the second.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Elms delivered three runs in the first inning before Shawn Smith (Shelton, Conn.) connected in the bottom of the opening frame off a single to center field to bring home Vance Ward, cutting the Falcons deficit to within two.
• The Blazers padded their lead with four more runs across the second and third frames but Bobby Arent's (Ridgefield, Conn.) sacrifice fly out of left field allowed Smith to score. Smith led off the inning with a single to right field followed by singles of the bats of Eric Galarza (Bridgeport, Conn.) and Tyler DeSanty (West Haven, Conn.) in consecutive at-bats.
• Two batters later, Albertus attempted a mini rally as Tyler Czeremcha (New Britain, Conn.) doubled to bring home Desanty and Galarza, who got in scoring position off a single by Anthony Abate (Naugatuck, Conn.) to advance a base at the previous at-bat.
• Josh Nohilly hit a two-RBI homer in the top of the ninth to cap off the matchup.
