NEW HAVEN, Conn. -  The Albertus Magnus College softball team scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, including a game-winning hit by Julianna Petruzziello (West Haven, Conn.) in game two as the Falcons swept the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA), 5-3 and 8-7 on Friday at Shea Softball Field.

All four runs in the bottom of the seventh of game with two outs as Kaitlyn Cunningham (Lakeville, Conn.) hit a two-run single before Petruzziello's heroics.

In game one, Skylar Arent (Ridgefield, Conn.) went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run as the Falcons rallied from an early 3-0 deficit.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Lora Woyton of MCLA had an RBI in the first and third innings to stake the Trailblazers to an early 3-0 lead.
• The Falcons would get those runs back in the bottom of the third as the first five batters reached base. After Gianna Carrano (West Haven, Conn.) walked and Paige Scheid (Cedar Grove, N.J.) singled, Arent singled to left to score Carrano and Scheid to make it a 3-2 game.
• Colleen Edwards (Clinton, Conn.) and Erin Molkenthin (East Haddam, Conn.) both singled to load the bases and Hailey Laforte (Branford, Conn.) had a sacrifice fly to score Arent to tie the game.
• Ema Signore (East Haven, Conn.) came in relief and pitched three scoreless innings and the offense helped her out in the bottom of the sixth as Edwards drove in Scheid - who singled top open the inning - on a groundout followed by a sacrifice fly by Molkenthin to give the Falcons the 5-3 lead.
• After a leadoff single in the top of the seventh, Signor retired the final three batters to earn the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Falcons jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first a Scheid opened up the offense with a single followed by an RBI double by Arent. Amelia Boulli (Torrington, Conn.) added an RBI groundout in the inning.
• MCLA got a run back in the top of the second on an RBI single from Maddy Teta, but an RBI double from Scheid in the bottom of the second gave Albertus the two-run lead once again.
• The Trailblazers took the lead after scoring two runs apiece in the third and fourth innings to go up 5-3, including an RBI single from Woyton and an RBI double from Kristie Zator.
• Albertus got to within one after Edwards scored on a wild pitch, but an RBI single in the sixth and seventh innings put MCLA back up 7-4.
• The rally in the bottom of the seventh for the Falcons started with a triple by Arent followed by an infield single from Edwards to put runners on the corner. Edwards would steal second before Albertus recorded two straight outs. However, with two strikes in what could have been the final out, Cunningham delivered with an RBI single to centerfield that scored Edwards and Arent. 
• Isabelle Smith (Meriden, Conn.) then singled and stole second, setting the stage for Petruzziello who ripped a single to center to give the Falcons the win.
