NEW HAVEN, Conn. — To close out the season, Amber DeJonge (Grand Rapids, Mich.) connected for a pair of goals in the Albertus Magnus College women's lacrosse Great Northeast Athletic Conference loss, 19-3, against the visiting Elms College Blazers on Tuesday.

BOX

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Elms jumped out ahead in the first period with seven unanswered goals, with four by Jackie Cronin and a pair of player-up goals.
  • Samantha Helwig (Northford, Conn.)) erased the shutout to snap the Albertus scoring drought a little over a minute in the second quarter to narrow the deficit to 7-1. After a failed clear attempt and a caused turnover forced by the Falcons allowed the sophomore to take advantage of the Elms' mistake and net her 22nd goal of the season.
  • The Blazers tacked on two more goals in the second before DeJonge sliced past the defenders and goalkeeper with a dart aimed at the back of the net thanks to her successful draw control at center field.
  • The visitors padded their lead by nine tallies across the second, third and fourth periods.
  • With a little over three minutes remaining in regulation, DeJonge connected for the second time of the matchup after another well-captured draw control.
