Women's Soccer Weekly Preview: Elms & Saint Joseph's (Maine)

Last Week: The Albertus Magnus College women's soccer team opened the season by going 1-1 in a pair of non-conference road games. In the season opener, Albertus Magnus fell to regional rival Wentworth, 3-0. Sophomore goalkeeper Lexie Fenn made a career-high eight saves versus the Leopards. Over the weekend, freshman Erin Daly and senior Liz Nagy both netted their first collegiate goals as the Falcons topped Nichols, 2-1, in Dudley, Massachusetts.

This Week: The Falcons host Elms in midweek action before hitting the road to open GNAC play versus St. Joseph's (Maine) over the weekend. The contest with the Blazers on Wednesday will serve as the team's home opener.

Last Fall Against the Blazers: Elms topped Albertus Magnus, 2-1, at home last September. Trailing 2-0 midway through the second half, the visitors cut the deficit in half courtesy of a goal by midfielder Taylor Rotella. With less than 90 seconds remaining in regulation, Albertus made one final push to tie the game, but the Blazer goalkeeper stood her ground to help the hosts prevail victorious.

Last Season Versus The Monks: Albertus Magnus erased a three-goal second-half deficit to earn the GNAC victory at home last October. Midfielder Danielle Polvan capped an epic comeback for the Albertus Magnus College women's soccer team with the game-winning goal in a 4-3 triumph. The game-winner was Polvan's second of the day.

NOTES:
- The program earned its 100th career victory last Saturday against Nichols.  Head Coach Nick Wajnowski has been at the helm for 93 of the win for the Falcons.
-  Nagy scored the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory on the road against Nichols for Albertus Magnus last week. The tally came off a feed from sophomore Kerrigan Loughman and was the first of Nagy's career. In the 72nd minute, Nagy fired a shot from just outside the 18 that beat the Bison goalkeeper.
- Daly had a solid first week of collegiate action, netting a goal and firing three shots as Albertus Magnus went 1-1 in non-conference play to open the season. In a 2-1 road victory against Nichols, Daly opened the scoring with her first collegiate strike late in the first half.
- In net, Fenn has amassed a .692 save percentage with a 2.00 goals-against average in 180 minutes of action.
- The Falcons have taken eight corner kicks so far this fall.
