Standish, Maine – The Albertus Magnus College women's soccer team and Saint Joseph's (Maine) played to a scoreless draw on Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at Westerley Field.

The Falcons (1-2-1, 0-0-1) played to a scoreless tie for the first time since last September at home versus Wentworth, while the Monks (2-2-1, 0-0-1) are now riding a two-game unbeaten streak.

The guests held a 17-11 advantage in shots and took six corners compared to just three for the hosts. During the opening 45 minutes of action, Albertus Magnus outshot SJC, 8-2, and controlled possession.

The goalkeepers came to play for both squads as Falcon sophomore Lexie Fenn (Oakville, Conn.) made four saves to record her second career shutout and Monk junior Brooke Troup turned aside seven shots en route to her first clean sheet of the autumn.

In the 28th minute, the Falcons had a solid scoring chance with junior Angelina Piccirillo (Naugatuck, Conn.) delivering a good service on a corner kick. The first Albertus Magnus shot attempt was blocked and senior Taylor Rotella (Milford, Conn.) followed with a header that was wide of the goal.

Later in the opening half, both Piccirillo and sophomore forward Kerrigan Loughman (Trumbull, Conn.) took shots that were stopped by Troup.

In the first two minutes of the second half, AMC senior striker Danielle Polvan (East Haven, Conn.) took a pair of shots that were both stopped by Troup, before freshman Erin Daly's bid for a marker was also snuffed out by Troup.

Fenn made her first save of the day in the 79th minute and she would go on to make three more during the two overtime periods.

The contest saw 15 fouls called and a trio of yellow cards handed out.

Albertus Magnus returns to action on Tuesday, September 13, with a non-conference road contest against in-state rival Wesleyan that is slated to begin at 4:30 pm. Last fall, the Cardinals topped the Falcons, 1-0, in the Elm City.
