Middletown, Conn. – The Albertus Magnus College women's soccer team lost on the road to in-state foe Wesleyan, 4-0, on Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action at Jackson Field.

The host Carindals (2-1) handed the Falcons (1-3-1) their second straight non-conference setback thanks to outshooting AMC, 16-3, and controlling much of the possession.

Wesleyan got on the board early as Sarah Sylla took an Ella Sinfield pass and found the back of the net just 5:08 into the match. Just over five minutes later, at 10:42, Chrissy Gonzalez-Gandolfi set up Sinfield who got it past the Falcon sophomore goalkeeper Lexie Fenn (Oakville, Conn.) to give the home team the two goal advantage.

Like they did in the first half, Wesleyan struck quickly in the second half, as Nicole Brodkowitz put a header past Fenn off a pass from Tess Daggett-Edenholm to give the hosts a three-goal edge.

The Cardinals capped the scoring Just a few minutes later as Gonzalez-Gandolfi notched her first career goal, scoring off the rebound from a Victoria Matthews header, which sealed the 4-0 Cardinal victory.

In net, Fenn turned aside four shots in just under 60 minutes of play. In relief of Fenn, both senior Ryan Clark (Milford, Conn.) and freshman Cassidy Scofield (Shelton, Conn.) saw action in the second half.

Junior midfielder Angelina Piccirillo (Naugatuck, Conn.) took a team-high two shots for the Falcons, while senior Alexis Mack (Meriden, Conn.) took the other Albertus Magnus shot in the contest.

Albertus Magnus returns to action on Saturday, September 17, with a home Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) clash with Simmons that is slated to get underway at 1:00 pm. The Falcons are looking to avenge a 2-1 setback to the Sharks last October in Boston.
