Women's Soccer Weekly Preview: Wesleyan & Simmons

Last Week: The Albertus Magnus College women's soccer team went 0-1-1 in a pair of contests last week. Albertus Magnus began the week with a 2-0 non-conference setback against Elms. In the loss, sophomore goalkeeper Lexie Fenn turned aside four shots. Over the weekend, Albertus Magnus and Saint Joseph's (Maine) played to a scoreless draw in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play. In the conference opener for both squads, the goalkeepers took center stage. Fenn made four saves en route to first shutout of the season and the second of her career.

This Week: The Falcons hit the road to face in-state rival Wesleyan in midweek, non-conference action before hosting Simmons in league play on Saturday afternoon.

Last Fall Against the Cardinals: Wesleyan defeated Albertus Magnus, 1-0, in New Haven last September. In the contest, the Cardinals held a 15-7 advantage in shots and both teams took five corners. For the Falcons, Angelina Piccirillo and Amanda Montano created the team's scoring chances.

Last Season Versus The Sharks: A late fall rally fell short for Albertus Magnus in a 2-1 setback at Simmons last September. Trailing 2-0 late in regulation, AMC got on the board with a goal in the 88th minute. After the strike the Falcons were unable to get the ball back as the hosts controlled the ball en route to the win. Simmons held a 23-11 advantage in shots and took six corners compared to three for the Falcons.

NOTES:
- The program earned its 100th career victory earlier this season against Nichols.  Head Coach Nick Wajnowski has been at the helm for 93 of the win for the Falcons.
- In net, Fenn has amassed a .739 save percentage with a 1.42 goals-against average and 17 saves in 380 minutes of action. Last time out, she turned aside all four shots she faced in a scoreless tie with Saint Joseph's (Maine).
- Albertus Magnus has scored two goals this season and the squad has not found the net in back-to-back contests.
- Two weeks ago, Liz Nagy and Erin Daly both scored their first career goals in a win versus Nichols. For Daly, the strike came in her second career appearance, while Nagy's was in her 42nd game.
- The Falcons have taken 14 corner kicks so far this fall.
