New Haven, Conn. – It was an historic evening for senior Danielle Polvan (East Haven, Conn.) as she netted a career-high four goals to lead the Albertus Magnus College women's soccer team past visiting Mitchell, 8-0, on Wednesday in non-conference action at Celentano Field.

Polvan's four-goal outburst landed her atop the program's all-time list with 32 tallies for her career. She entered the season with 27 markers and through eight games this autumn she has moved past Sam Gigliotti '10 and Danielle Figueroa '12 to hold the new school record. The fourth-year striker now has her sights set on topping the Albertus Magnus career points list. She is four points away from tying Figueroa for the top spot with 77 points.

The Falcons (3-4-1) bounced back from a one-goal setback yesterday to hand the Mariners (1-5) their fifth straight non-conference loss.

The eight goals were the highest total for Albertus Magnus since the team netted nine in the regular-season finale last October at home versus CCNY.

Polvan had an impressive first half as she netted three goals. Junior forward Amanda Montano (North Haven, Conn.) also scored for the hosts in the opening 45 minutes to give AMC a 4-0 edge heading in halftime. On the first-half tallies, senior Liz Nagy (Meriden, Conn.) had a pair of assists, while classmate Bridget Judd (Branford, Conn.) and junior Nikki Kern (Wallingford, Conn.) each had one helper apiece.

In the second half, senior midfielder Liz Falcigno (Wallingford, Conn.) provided a spark off the bench with two goals and an assist. Her goal in the 58th minute came on a header in the penalty area and was the first of her career. Later in the stanza, Falcigno capped the scoring off a feed from Nagy.

Junior Alexya Alves (Trumbull, Conn.) had the other Albertus Magnus marker in the contest as she converted a cross from sophomore Kerrigan Loughman (Trumbull, Conn.) for her second strike of the fall.

In net, AMC senior goalkeeper Ryan Clark (Milford, Conn.) played 62 minutes to earn her first victory of the season and the second of her career. Falcon freshman Cassidy Scofield (Shelton, Conn.) played the final 28 minutes of scoreless relief for the hosts. On the opposite end, freshman Jordan Lohneiss (West Hartford, Conn.) turned aside 13 shots in a losing effort for the guests.

The hosts held a commanding 36-0 advantage in shots and took nine corners compared to zero for Mitchell.

Albertus Magnus returns to action on Saturday, September 24, with a road Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) battle with Anna Maria that is slated to begin at 2:30 pm. Last fall, the Falcons topped the AMCATS, 5-0, in New Haven.
