Women's Soccer Weekly Preview: Mount Holyoke, Mitchell & Anna Maria

Last Week: The Albertus Magnus College women's soccer team went 1-1 last week, dropping a midweek non-conference contest versus in-state foe Wesleyan before blanking Simmons, 2-0, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play over the weekend. Sophomore goalkeeper Lexie Fenn continued her strong play in league action, recording her second shutout of the year. In 200 minutes this fall in GNAC play, she stopped 12 shots and not surrendered a goal. Senior Danielle Polvan paced the Falcons attack against Simmons, scoring the game-winning goal and assisting on the other Albertus Magnus marker.

This Week: The Falcons hit the road to face regional foe Mount Holyoke in midweek action on Tuesday before a quick turnaround against in-state rival Mitchell at home on Wednesday. This weekend, the team travels back to the Bay State to square off with Anna Maria in GNAC play.

Series History: Tuesday evening's contest will be the first-ever between the Falcons and the Lyons. Last time out, AMC blanked Simmons, 2-0, while MHC is coming off a 2-0 setback against Babson in their conference opener.

Last Season Versus The Mariners: Five different Falcons found the back of the net en route to a 5-0 thumping of Mitchell on the road last September. In the triumph, Albertus Magnus sophomore Kerrigan Loughman recorded two assists and Fenn posted her first career shutout. The Falcons also had a commanding, 28-1, advantage in shots.

Last Year Against the AMCATS: Albertus Magnus saw five different score goals in a 5-0 shutout win against Anna Maria in New Haven last autumn. The Falcons took a program record 44 shots in the victory, while the AMCATS fired just one shot. Albertus Magnus also held an 18-0 advantage in penalty kicks.

NOTES:
- The program earned its 100th career victory earlier this season against Nichols.  Head Coach Nick Wajnowski has been at the helm for 93 of the win for the Falcons.
- In their two wins this fall, the Falcons have combined to score four goals. In their three losses, the team has not scored.
- Polvan led the Falcons to a 1-1 record last week. In GNAC action over the weekend, she scored the game-winning goal and added an assist in a 2-0 victory versus Simmons at home. Polvan opeend the scoring in the 12th minute, as she beat the defender marking her and found the back of the net for the first time this fall. Later in the opening half, she sent a cross into the box that was finished by teammate Alexya Alves. The points were her first of the season.
- Fenn has been dominant in conference play this season. In 200 minutes, she has not allowed a goal. For the year, she has a .750 save percentage, a 1.70 goals-against average, 30 saves and a pair of shutouts (both in conference play).
