New Haven, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus College Athletics Department takes great pride in giving back to local communities and for the seventh straight year, Falcon student-athletes, coaches and administration surpassed the department goal of 800 hours.
All Albertus student-athletes, coaches and administration spent their Thanksgiving and Christmas break volunteering within their community and in total finished with 1,123 hours, eclipsing the previous high of 1,010.5 hours set in the 2017-18 school year.
"The sustainability over the past seven years has been remarkable," said Athletic Director Jim Abromaitis. "During that time, the athletics department has amassed an overall total of 5,770.5 hours of service for the community."
Over the holiday season, the Albertus athletics department was involved in many different service activities. The service activities were selected individually by the teams and were service pursuits that the athletes felt strongly about. The men's lacrosse team helped out during road races to raise awareness for arthritis. The baseball team participated in environmental clean-up efforts. The women's basketball team volunteered with younger kids, teaching them the fundamentals of the game and promoting the core values of the Albertus Magnus athletic department.
Through their dedication and selfless service, the athletics department was able to give back to their community and improve the lives of many less fortunate individuals during this past holiday season.
