WINTHROP, Mass. – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference is excited to announce that Albertus Magnus College junior women's soccer student-athlete Megan Doyle will join the office staff as its Marketing & Multimedia Specialist Intern, as announced on Tuesday morning.

A native of Central Islip, N.Y., the Visual Communications major will specialize in communications, social media campaigns, graphic design, and video editing in her part-time role with the GNAC.

Doyle's hiring was made possible through the NCAA Division III Diversity Funding for conference offices, as approved by the D3 Strategic Planning and Finance Committee (SPFC).

Following a membership-wide search spearheaded by GNAC Assistant Commissioner Michael Ghika and GNAC Assistant to the Commissioner Julio Barroso, Doyle's skillset made her an elite candidate for the opportunity.

As part of her new GNAC duties, Doyle will also serve as a key cog in the GNAC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Commissioner's Council discussions, helping deliver the conference's SAAC messaging amidst the COVID-19 pandemic to the rest of the league's 3,000+ student-athletes.

This marks the fifth straight academic year the GNAC has hired an intern through this fabulous D-III funding initative, following in the footsteps of Suffolk University's Samantha Jacques last spring, Emmanuel College's Anna Stanley in 2019, Lasell College's Kelsey Hagan in 2018, and Saint Joseph's College of Maine's Sarah Comtois in 2017.

A defender for head coach Nicholas Wajnowski's Falcons program in New Haven, Conn., Doyle appeared in 16 games (six starts) last fall after being named All-League three times at Central Islip High School.

On campus at Albertus Magnus, Doyle works as an intern in the Marketing and Communications office, reporting to the Digital Media Specialist and the Director of Creative Services and Marketing. There, she is responsible for assisting in the final video production of campus message resources, reporting on community events, editing the Albertus YouTube channel, and most recently, the launching of a campus-life video series.

This past summer, Doyle also served as an intern for Ahead of the Pace in Farmingdale, N.Y., researching events for clients while keeping up with COVID-19 policy changes. She too has been a producer at Savannah College of Art and Design in Atlanta, communicating with the cast and director regarding scheduling, budget, design, equipment and location.

The NCAA Division III office's giveback to the D3 membership and conferences offices comes in many gracious forms that the GNAC is grateful for. In addition to the GNAC receiving this undergrad grant each of the last five years, Barroso's appointment this past summer marked the fifth time under Commissioner Joe Walsh that the GNAC has received the two-year D3 Ethnic Minority and Women's Internship Grant.

As for previous the interns before Doyle, Jacques is currently the social media coordinator for the Dan O'Brien Autogroup in N.H.

Stanley graduated from Emmanuel in December 2019 before assisting in the Saints athletic department last spring, and is currently enrolled in the Fenway Sports Management University program, where recent college graduates and young professionals continue to pursue a career within the sports and entertainment industry.

Hagan was hired as Director of New Media at the D3 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) in Georgia before becoming an Athletic Communications graduate assistant at Clemson in 2019, and Comtois has worked in production at NEWSCENTER Maine TV in Portland since graduating from SJC in 2018.

The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) is an NCAA Division III association made up of 13 member institutions and over 3,000 student-athletes across the New England region. Founded in 1995, the GNAC annually sponsors and administers 22 championships, while balancing academic integrity, athletic opportunity and community involvement in an effort to enhance the student-athlete experience.
